The staff of Black Mountain Elementary is pleased to welcome you to the 2025–2026 school year. As a school community, we are honoured to serve your children in the vital work of public education. We recognize and value the active involvement of parents and guardians in supporting student learning. Together, we strive to provide the best possible program for each child, and we hope that students and families will feel connected, supported, and inspired throughout the year.

At Black Mountain Elementary, we are proud of the strong sense of community that continues to grow with each passing year. Our dedicated team of educators is supported by engaged and caring families, and together we work to create a safe, inclusive, and joyful learning environment for our nearly 450 curious, enthusiastic, and hardworking students. This combination is the foundation of a school where academic achievement and social growth thrive.

As a school we are committed to our school priorities around building each learner's foundation skills in numeracy and literacy.  We are also committed to the ongoing work of Truth and Reconciliation. We recognize that our school is located on the traditional, unceded territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) people. As educators, we are dedicated to learning, listening, and teaching in ways that honour Indigenous histories, cultures, and perspectives. We continue to reflect on our practices and build meaningful connections with Indigenous communities as we walk the path of reconciliation together.

As we look ahead to this new school year, we do so with great excitement and optimism. We are confident that 2025-2026 will be filled with meaningful learning, joyful experiences, and lasting memories for everyone in our school community.
