Welcome to the 2026-2027 School Year!
The staff of Black Mountain Elementary is delighted to welcome students and families to another exciting school year. We feel privileged to partner with you in supporting your child's educational journey and are grateful for the important role parents and guardians play in student success. By working together, we can create meaningful learning experiences that help every child reach their full potential while fostering a strong sense of belonging and connection within our school community.
Black Mountain Elementary continues to be a place where relationships, learning, and community flourish. Thanks to our dedicated staff and the ongoing support of our families, we provide a safe, caring, and inclusive environment for nearly 430 enthusiastic learners. Our students bring curiosity, creativity, and energy to school each day, and we are proud to offer opportunities that nurture both their academic growth and personal development.
This year, we remain focused on strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy skills for all learners. We are also committed to advancing the important work of Truth and Reconciliation. Black Mountain Elementary is situated on the traditional, unceded territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) People, and we acknowledge our responsibility to learn from and honour Indigenous histories, cultures, and ways of knowing. Through reflection, education, and relationship-building, we continue striving to create meaningful opportunities for understanding and reconciliation within our school community.
As we begin the year ahead, we do so with enthusiasm, hope, and a shared commitment to student success. We look forward to a year filled with learning, growth, achievement, and memorable experiences for students, staff, and families alike.
