Letter to BME Parents - October 14th
Update Nov. 19th : Our fundraising drive to help support the children at this orphanage has been very successful. Thank you to all the families and staff that have contributed to raising over $2700 so far. Our team will be hosting another bottle drive on the first Wednesday of December. Please drop off your bottles in the morning, and look for the signage to direct you to the vehicle. Our next social justice 'spirit day' is scheduled on Nov. 30th. We will be having a 'Crazy Hair/mustache Day' at BME. We are asking for a twoonie from our students to particpate.
This year BME is going to 'lead with their hearts, head, and hands' in a journey to support an orphanage in Haiti. Through the work of Heart to Heart, our staff and students will fund raise, and educate about the needs of a developing country, and the young children who live there. It will be a journey of the heart for all us involved with the small, island nation that is so desperately in need of funds to support the basic necessities of life. We received the below photo in September as some of the young children welcomed us aboard this journey. As well, below is a photo of the school where the children attend. Now, with the recent hurricane they are in a more dire situation as disease, particularly Cholera, and crops being washed away, pose a lethal threat for the villagers. We hope to help our global neighbors! Visit this website for more information!
