The
Roots of Empathy program is generally hosted each year by two classes in the school,
facilitated by a trained Roots of Empathy Instructor.
In this
experiential learning, the baby is the "teacher" through which the
instructor helps children identify and reflect on their own feelings and the
feelings of others. In this program an infant their parent regularly
visits the classroom with the trained Roots of Empathy Instructor who coaches
students to observe the baby's development and to label the baby's feelings. The Roots of Empathy program helps to foster the development of empathy and
emotional literacy, and reduce levels of bullying, aggression and violence in
children.
